National Gugak Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul plans to hold a special performance entitled A Performance: the Marketplace Opening (Yeonhui, Nanjang Teuda) on September 19 and 20 to celebrate Chuseok, Korean Thanksgiving Day. Nanjang Teuda means a marketplace opening in pure Korean (rather than Sino-Korean characters). The phrase Yeonhui, Nanjang Teuda conveys a performance filled with fun and laughter like an old Korean marketplace. As the title of the performance suggests, it will consist of exciting traditional Korean performances such as minyo (Korean folk song), samulnori (Korean traditional percussion quartet), jultagi (tightrope) and more. Celebrate the joyous rhythms of Korean traditional performances under the full moon over the Chuseok holidays. Admission to the performance is free of charge.
